About the Role: Finance Trainee Apprentice
As a Finance Apprentice, you’ll assist in core accounting and external reporting functions while contributing to ongoing process automation and transformation initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience in the dynamic world of American Express Finance, supported by structured training and team collaboration.
American Express hiring Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain automation tools to support data extraction, transformation, and validation processes.
Work with large datasets to identify trends, detect irregularities, and highlight potential risks in regulatory reporting.
Document all automation and reporting procedures clearly, including system settings, data flows, and validation checks.
Understand and navigate system structures and how different platforms interact within the finance ecosystem.
Look for ways to improve current reporting workflows using automation and advanced tools.
Partner with various Finance departments to gather accurate data and meet functional needs.
Support ongoing initiatives and projects with tactical execution.
Help update and maintain standard operating procedure documents.
Ensure all tasks align with company financial policies and standards.
American Express Qualifications & Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Candidates with up to 11 months of experience are eligible).
Working knowledge of SQL, Python, or other programming languages. Able to handle large datasets and extract meaningful insights.
Basic familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), automation techniques (RPA, ETL tools, Machine Learning), and data visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI.
Foundational understanding of financial principles and the role of Finance in a global organization.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Positive, flexible mindset with a passion for learning and personal development.
