IB JIO Selection Process and Exam Pattern

The selection process is a three-tiered system:

• Tier I: Written Examination (100 Marks)
  • This is an online, objective-type Computer-Based Test (CBT).
  • The paper has 100 questions and a duration of 2 hours.
  • The exam is divided into two parts:
    • General Mental Ability (25%): 25 questions.
    • Technical Subjects (75%): 75 questions based on the essential qualifications.
  • There is a negative marking of 1/4th of a mark for each incorrect answer.
• Tier II: Skill Test (30 Marks)
  • This is a practical, hands-on test that evaluates the candidate’s technical skills.
• Tier III: Interview/Personality Test (20 Marks)
  • Candidates who qualify the first two tiers will be called for a final interview to assess their personality, communication skills, and suitability for the role.

Salary and Career Growth

The salary for a Junior Intelligence Officer is based on Pay Level 4 of the 7th Pay Commission, with a pay scale of ₹25,500 to ₹81,100. In addition to the basic pay, a Special Security Allowance of 20% of the basic pay is provided, along with other government allowances like DA, HRA, and TA. The in-hand salary for a new recruit is approximately ₹36,000 per month.
