The application process is entirely online. Here are the key steps:

1. Visit the official BSSC website.
2. Click on the “BSSC Stenographer 2025 Apply Online” link.
3. Register with a valid email address and mobile number.
4. Fill out the application form with personal and educational details.
5. Upload scanned copies of your photograph and signature in the specified format.
6. Pay the application fee. The fee is typically around Rs. 100, but it’s essential to check the official notification for the exact amount and category-wise details.
7. Submit the form and download the confirmation page for future reference.

Selection Process

The selection process for the BSSC Stenographer post involves multiple stages:

1. Written Exam: If the number of applications exceeds 40,000, a preliminary exam will be conducted. The written exam consists of three parts:
   • Part A: General Knowledge
   • Part B: General Science and Mathematics
   • Part C: Mental Ability, Logic, Reasoning, and Comprehension
   • The exam has a total of 150 questions, with each correct answer fetching 4 marks and each wrong answer deducting 1 mark. The total marks for the exam are 600.
2. Skill Test: Candidates who qualify in the written exam will be called for a skill test. This involves a Hindi dictation stenography test with a required speed of 80 words per minute for 4 minutes. A candidate with more than a 10% error rate will be disqualified. A typing test in Hindi is also part of this stage, requiring a speed of 30 words per minute.

Syllabus and Exam Pattern

The written exam syllabus includes a wide range of topics to test a candidate’s knowledge and aptitude.

• General Knowledge: This section covers current events, Indian history (including the history of Bihar), Indian polity and economy, and geography.
• General Science and Mathematics: This section includes questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, as well as arithmetic and other mathematical concepts.
• Mental Ability, Logic, Reasoning, and Comprehension: This section assesses problem-solving skills, logical reasoning, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, and comprehension.
